80's Dance Party!

I bought this ghetto-blaster last summer at a yard sale for a buck. I had every intention of blasting ghettos all over the place with this thing ... not really. I bought it because I thought it looked boss, and wanted to put it on the shelf as a piece of found art. So, for the last year and a half, that's where this bad boy sat. I always had the intention of taking a proper photo of it; there's so much going on on the front, it certainly lends well to abstraction.

Anyway, I recently got the urge and had the camera out, with my flashes. Originally, I wanted to paint harsh edges on the boombox with light, which is why I chose the colours I ended up using; I wanted it to look like a 3D anaglyph photo from the 80's.

Then, I had the bright idea (pun intended) of placing the flashes just off camera and shooting the light into the lens on either side. This was tough to balance, since that drastically reduces contrast. I think this retains enough sharpness while still getting that disco-lighting feel.

Yes, I know there is dust and some scratches, I cleaned it up as best I could.
