I came to be in small town Nova Scotia, Canada. Yarmouth, to be exact. I lived, schooled and worked there for about 23 years, before I decided the tiny fishing town could no longer contain me.
So, in fall/winter 2004, I moved to "The Big City" - Halifax, NS. That is where I spent the following two years, living in what can only be described as post-academic squalor. It was wonderful. As a carefree 20-something I met many great people and re-united with some not-so-long-lost friends. Eventually I even managed to get my first REAL job, working for a startup as a Linux systems admin. This city had it all, and so shortly after landing the aforementioned career, I met my fiancee-to-be, Karley. I had truly found the Promised Land.
Alas, all good things must come to an end (or perhaps: become GREAT). Looking back, the writing was clearly on the wall. As I had outgrown the town of my youth, so too had I gotten my fill of Halifax. Fortunately, my better half was in agreement. Shortly after meeting, and living together in our single room abode, the decision was made: we would pursue the French-Canadian Dream. We packed all our worldly possessions and headed for Montreal. It is there (or here, rather) that we have settled (for now).
My day job is as a Senior PACS/Linux Specialist, while Karley is at Concordia, getting a BEd to compliment her BJH. In her spare time, Karley bakes and crafts till her heart’s content. We live in NDG (Montreal) with our belle dachshund, Beta.
instantkamera was written and designed by hand, by yours truly. I used vim and photoshop elements 6 on a macbook, along with several browsers for testing. The site is 100% css2.1 and xhtml1 compliant.
while the graphical layout and concept was my own, I could not have completed the job without the creativity and inspiration of others.

The "news" updates, which comprise a simple static xhtml page, are generated by a hand-written python script which creates the content I want from all my feeds.
I use the "Universal Feed Parser" python module, which great for parsing all walks of rss and atom feeds.
instantkamera is hosted with A Small Orange. ASO is a great hosting company that offers very personal and accommodating service. Their support is not only timely, but the team actually knows their stuff.
